LetterPop

http://letterpop.com/

Letter Pop is helps you create free snazzy newsletters, brochures, event invitations and more in minutes.  The free version is rather limited, but it's fairly easy to use - I think easier than MS Publisher.  Just select the template you like and type in your text.  You do have to create an account to preview, email or print your creation.  It has over 90 templates to pick from and each template has various layouts - so make sure to check those out too.  One nifty use for this might be for different branches within one library system to create a quick newsletter to keep everyone posted on what's going on.  So, take a break from Publisher and try something new!

Discovery Exercise:

  1. Play around with LetterPop.com and mock up a newsletter or announcement of your own.  Feel free to share something about you or your library!
  2. Post a comment to the Maryland Learning 2.1 blog and let us know how / if / when you might use this tool for your library or personally.

PS: Here’s a LetterPop creation that was actually created by a group of participants who recently attended a mouse skills workshop at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library in North Carolina.  What a neat way to say thanks and a useful tool to share with patrons. Try it yourself and see if you don't agree that creating great looking newsletters with this tool is a ... POP!
